Other Conditions:
Conditions that may respond to myotherapy
There are a variety of health problems that often respond
well to myotherapy or remedial massage, for example, both cyclic vomiting
syndrome and Meniere's disease can improve after remedial treatment.
Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome Cyclic
vomiting syndrome may sometimes be caused by the 'belch button' - a little-known or understood
trigger point.
Meniere's Disease Meniere's disease is a complex problem, the cause of which is still uncertain.
After reviewing many sources of reference and descriptions for this complaint, I have come to the conclusion that not all people diagnosed as having Meniere's disease actually have the same set of symptoms.
Weak Leg The moment she walked into the clinic I knew that this
was more than your every- day sort of problem. Mrs Brown was an elderly lady
somewhere between 70 and 80, and she entered the room leading with her left
foot and dragging the right one along the floor.
Conditions unlikely to respond to myotherapy
There are some causes of chronic pain that do not originate in the muscles
and are not responsive to massage or myotherapy. For example, most
forms of arthritis (inflammation of the joints) would fall into this
category. (but fibromyalgia
and myofascial pain syndrome, which do respond to myotherapy may be
misdiagnosed as arthritis.)
Arthritis
Arthritis (from Greek arthro-, joint + -itis,
inflammation) is a group of conditions that affect the health of the bone
joints in the body. One in three adult Americans suffer from some form of
arthritis and the disease affects about twice as many women as men.
Osteoarthritis With respect to osteoarthritis, joint pain is often the
result of chemicals in our body known as prostaglandins and leukotrienes, no
to mention lack of cartiladge. Understanding these pain causing biochemical's
affords us the ability to properly treat sore joints without dangerous NSAIDS
and COX-2 inhibitors.
Rheumatoid Arthritis
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune
disorder that causes the immune system to attack the joints. It is a
disabling and painful inflammatory condition, which can lead to substantial
loss of mobility due to pain and joint destruction.
Candida Candida Albicans or a yeast infection, both digestive
and systemic, is a health problem of which answers to its elimination are far
and few between. Literally millions of men and women have a potential yeast
infection that is causing, directly or indirectly, a significant number of
health problems or conditions.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome What is Irritable Bowel Syndrome? Irritable bowel
syndrome (IBS) is a chronic, functional disorder of the gastrointestinal tract characterized by lower abdominal pain (often severe), gas, bloating, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, or a combination of both, typically over months or years. In addition, in a study conducted by the Urogynaecology Unit of St. George's Hospital in London, researchers found that an irritable bladder is part of the irritable bowel syndrome as well. That is, for an IBS sufferer frequent urination can be a problem as well.
