Face and Teeth Pain

The temporalis along with the masseter are the main muscles of mastication, and provide the power to chew our food.

I recently saw a young lady who complained of pain to the whole right side of her face, including the teeth. I explained that the temporalis, a muscle located on the side of the scalp and attached to the jaw bone, can cause pain exactly as she described, and that we should be able to relieve the problem with a little spray and stretch.

Although sceptical that something so simple could solve her problem she decided to give it a go. I used the spray and stretch process on the side of her face just four times, testing the range of movement of the jaw each time.

When the correct amount of range was obtained, I stopped and asked her how it felt now. She was quite amazed that we had eliminated a problem that had been bothering her for weeks and it only took ten minutes.
