Back Pain during Pregnancy
by Gary A Clark, myotherapist
Because of its location in the pelvis the Iliopsoas muscle often gets compressed by the baby during the third trimester of pregnancy, causing really nasty backache for the expectant
mother.
I have treated a number of pregnant women for back pain, caused by this muscle, always with excellent results.
Because of their delicate condition I usually do a gentle spray and stretch with the woman lying on her side. The coolant spray is always followed up with a warm pack and if desired a gentle massage.
