Headaches are a condition of mild to severe pain in the head; sometimes upper back or neck pain may also be interpreted as a headache. Headaches have a wide variety of causes, ranging from eyestrain to inflammation of the sinus cavities to life-threatening conditions such as encephalitis.

Tension headaches are the most common type of headaches. The pain can radiate from the neck, back, eyes, or other muscle groups in the body. Nearly everyone will have at least one tension headache in their lifetime.

Migraine Headache  Migraine is a form of headache. It is a neurologic disease of vascular origin characterized by attacks of sharp pain involving (usually) one half of the skull and accompanied by nausea, vomiting, photophobia and occasionally visual (or rarely other) disturbances known as aura. The symptoms and their timing vary considerably among migraine suffers, and to a lesser extent from one migraine attack to the next.

Migraine type headaches can come from more than one cause . The most common cause , at least eighty five percent of the time is pain, that is referred from muscles in the neck and shoulders and also in the scalp.

Cluster headaches are rare headaches that occur in patterns called clusters. These headaches occur once or more daily, often at the same times each day, for a period of several weeks, followed by a headache-free period lasting weeks, months, or even years.

Rebound headaches occur when medication is taken too frequently to relieve headache pain. Rebound headaches frequently occur daily and can be very painful. A diagnosis of rebound headaches can be easy or difficult, as the cause is very easy to identify but very difficult to diagnose.

You Can do Much to Get Free from Headaches
The best cure is prevention. Let us look at some of the ways in which we can free ourselves from the discomfort and burden of headaches. Massage can help to relax the muscles and nerves of the neck, head and eyes so as to increase the flow of blood and relieve the pain.

Neck Pain is less common than low back pain, which affects about 80 percent of us at some time in our lives. Nevertheless, a huge number of adults - between 38 and 50 percent - have to cope with a sore neck at some point.

Face & Teeth Pain  The temporalis along with the masseter are the main muscles of mastication, and provide the power to chew our food.  I recently saw a young lady who complained of pain to the whole right side of her face, including the teeth. I explained that the temporalis, a muscle located on the side of the scalp and attached to the jaw bone, can cause pain exactly as she described, and that we should be able to relieve the problem with a little spray and stretch.

Frozen Shoulder  The shoulder is the most movable joint in the body. However, it is an unstable joint because of the range of motion allowed. It is easily subject to injury because the ball of the upper arm is larger than the shoulder socket that holds it. To remain stable, the shoulder must be anchored by its muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Some shoulder problems arise from the disruption of these soft tissues as a result of injury or from overuse or underuse of the shoulder. Other problems arise from a degenerative process in which tissues break down and no longer function well.

Frozen Shoulder - the Myotherapy Approach  I have been told by some people that there is no cure for frozen shoulder, nevertheless, at Pain busters clinic we have treated many frozen shoulders with great success. Frozen shoulder is usually the result of trauma or overuse of the shoulder muscles. In practice I have found that although several muscles can, and often are involved in a frozen shoulder, the main culprit is usually the Subscapularis muscle.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a a disorder where the median nerve is compressed at the wrist, this causes tingling and weakness at parts of the hand. It is commonly caused by strain placed on the hand, for instance gripping and typing, which are usually performed repetitively in a person's occupation.

If Carpal Tunnel Syndrome comes from typing on the computer all day, why didn't people who typed on typewriters get Carpal Tunnel Syndrome? Because there was no computer screen to draw their heads forward, their chins tilted up, necks strained. Typewriters were placed lower than desks and typists tilted their heads down not forward.

'Carpal Tunnel Syndrome' (CTS) is a fairly common complaint in our society.  It is not an actual disease, but a collection of symptoms, or a syndrome. So if it is only compression within the carpal tunnel, why doesn’t the surgery always work? The answer could be because there are many other conditions that can mimic carpal tunnel syndrome.

Back pain is one of humanity's most frequent complaints and does not usually reflect any underlying disease. However, anyone with back pain should first consult a Physician, as back pain can sometimes indicate significant and serious conditions which might not otherwise be diagnosed.

Eliminate Back Pain   Millions of people suffer from back pain unnecessarily when there is actually a very simple solution, according to Jesse Cannone, certified personal trainer and back pain specialist.  "Unfortunately, many people are led to believe that back pain is normal and were all supposed to experience it... well, thankfully, that’s not the case. Eliminating back pain is not nearly as difficult as most people think or are led to believe... it can actually be easy!" says Cannone.

Low Back Pain is one of the most common ailments people suffer from and approximately 8 out of 10 people will deal with back pain at some point in their life. That’s a lot of people… are you one of them?

Lumbago is a symptom which may be defined as a mid to lower back pain which may extend to the buttocks, thigh(s) and leg(s) in either a uni- or bi- lateral fashion (if/when the lower limb is involved the symptom is termed sciatica rather than lumbago).

Low Back Pain Ninety percent of the time, low back pain comes from one or more of only six muscles.  Using the 'spray and stretch' technique, muscular pain in the low back can be completely eliminated.  The pain relief can be almost instant.

Back Pain during Pregnancy  Because of its location in the pelvis the Iliopsoas muscle often gets compressed by the baby during the third trimester of pregnancy, causing really nasty backache for the expectant mother.

Sciatica  is a pain in the leg due to irritation of the sciatic nerve. The pain generally goes from the front of the thigh to the back of the calf, and may also extend upward to the hip and down to the foot. In addition to pain, there may be numbness and difficulty moving or controlling the leg.

Sciatica & the Piriformis  If you’re reading this article, it’s a good bet that you have a radiating pain running down the back of your leg that just won’t go away. If what I’m about to tell you sounds familiar, don’t worry, help is on the way. Sciatica and Piriformis Syndrome are the same condition... it is just that the medical community is starting to call the condition by the muscle (Piriformis) that is involved and getting away from calling it by the name of the nerve that is involved (sciatic) nothing more than semantics.

Foot Pain  Ever stepped out of bed in the morning only to hop back in because you felt a sharp pain in the bottom of your foot? Arch pain or heel pain can signal a condition called plantar fascitis and can keep you off your feet for months at a time. It's hard to treat, slow to heal and hurts like heck with every step. The best way to deal with this condition is to prevent it.
